Description:
Type 321 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel containing Titanium which is rec"ommended for parts fabricated by welding which cannot subsequently be annεealed.Type 321 is a stabilized austenitic stainless steel similar to type 304 but with a titaniu₩m addition . This titanium addition reduces or prevents carbide precipitation during weldin÷g and in 800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C) servic♥e. It also improves the elevated temperature properties of the alloy. TypΩe 321 provides excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion an≤d possesses good creep strength.

Physical Properties:
Annealed:
Ultimate Tensile Strength – 75KSI min (515 MPA min)
Yield Strength (0.2% Offset) –30 KSI min (205 MPA min)
Elongation – 40% min
Hardness – HRB95max (217HV max)
Applications:
Aircraft collector rings, exhaust stacks, carburetor air intensifier tubes, αexhaust manifolds, flexible couplings, jet engine parts, mufflers, ∏pressure vessels, tubing, fasteners, flexible metal hose an£d bellows.
Heat Treatment:
Type 321 is non hardenable by heat treatment. It c♠an only be hardened by cold working.
Cold Forming:
321 can be readily formed and drawn. Like most other austenitic stainless steels☆, type 321 work hardens and may require annealing a≈fter severe forming.
Corrosion Resistance:
321 has excellent corrosion resistance equivalent to type 302 or 304 in t"he annealed condition and superior if a weldment in these grades has not been post-weld annealed☆ or if the application involves service in the 800°F – 1600°F range.
