Description:
Type 316(UNS 31600) is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel containing molybdenum. This addition increases corrosion resistance, improves re$sistance to pitting chloride ion
solutions and provide increased strength at elevated temperatures. Propeσrties are similar to those of type 304 except that 31<6 is somewhat stronger at elevated temperatures. Corrosion resistance is improved, part↕icularly against sulfuric, hydrochloric, acetic, formic and tartaric acids, acid sulfate s and alkaline chlorides.
