Description:
Type 321 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel conta×ining Titanium which is recommended for parts fabricated by welding w☆hich cannot subsequently be annealed.Type 321 is a stabilize d austenitic stainless steel similar to type 304 but with a titanium a→ddition . This titanium addition reduces or prevents carbide precipitation during welding and in 8∏00 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C) service. It also impr"oves the elevated temperature properties of the alloy. Type 321 provides excellent resistance® to oxidation and corrosion and possesses good creep strength.

Physical Properties:
Annealed:
Ultimate Tensile Strength – 75KSI min (515 MPA min)
Yield Strength (0.2% Offset) –30 KSI min (205 MPA min)
Elongation – 40% min
Hardness – HRB95max (217HV max)
Applications:
Aircraft collector rings, exhaust stacks, carburetor air intensiΩfier tubes, exhaust manifolds, flexible couplings, jet engine parts, mufflers, pressure™ vessels, tubing, fasteners, flexible metal hose an£d bellows.
Heat Treatment:
Type 321 is non hardenable by heat treatment. It can <only be hardened by cold working.
Cold Forming:
321 can be readily formed and drawn. Like most other auαstenitic stainless steels, type 321 work hardens and may require anλnealing after severe forming.
Corrosion Resistance:
321 has excellent corrosion resistance equivalent to type 302 or 304 in the ann®ealed condition and superior if a weldment in these grades has notσ been post-weld annealed or if the application involv♠es service in the 800°F – 1600°F range.
