Description:
Grade 430 is a ferritic, straight chromium, non-hardena§ble grade, combining good corrosion resistance and formability characteristics withπ useful mechanical properties. Its ability to resist nitric acid attack permits its use ™in specific chemical applications but automotive trim and≠ appliance components represents its largest fields of application.
Grade 430F is the free-machining version of this grade↕, available in bar form for use in automatic screw machines. Grade 434 is the molπybdenum bearing version of Grade 430 and has the same useful combination of propεerties. Its molybdenum addition improves corrosion reδsistance.
These properties for 430 are specified for flat rolled product (plate, sheet and c≥oil) in ASTM A240/A240M. Similar but not necessarily identica≤l properties are specified for other products such as forgings and bar in their respective specific★ations. Properties of Grade 430F are specified for bar in AST₩M A582.

Physical Properties:
Annealed:
Ultimate Tensile Strength – 10KSI min (690 MPA δmin)
Yield Strength (0.2% Offset) –60 KSI min (414 MPA m≥in)
Elongation – 15% min
Hardness – HRB96max (217HV max)
Applications:
Architectural, automotive parts, cooking utensils, fasteners, food processing,£ oil burners parts, television cones, tobacco machinery parts.
Corrosion Resistance:
420 provides full corrosion resistance only in the hardened or hardened and ±tempered. In these conditions, its corrosion resistance is similar to typ e 410. Refer to NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) for recommendat≤ions.
Heat treatment:
Alloy 420 can be hardened by cold working and by heat treatiαng. Please refer to Haosteel Technical Services Dep¥artment for more information. Alloy 420 is capable of being heat treated t¥o a hardness of HRC 51 minimum.
